And just what per-say would the Oilers be offering? Given that we're division rivals, our goaltending (as much as I don't like it) seems to be good enough to compete for the division. I'd honestly be surprised if our offer was more than a "Hey do you want this guy?" "Nah, we're already paying our goalies too much, we'll do it if you take Smith and Russell." "No thank you."

No disrespect to Hayton but he hasn’t done much (tho in a short period of time) to say when he is back he is going to bring the offensive punch the yotes need. His numbers and play this year don’t scream top 6 to me but I don’t watch every game.

I was at the game last night and except for the one shot that Mrazek made a great glove save, Hall was not even noticeable. I was looking forward to watching him with Arizona but last night there was not much to see.

Why would any team pay more than maybe a late round pick (like... an 18th rounder) for Raanta? He’s the most injury prone goaltender in recent memory, and he’s making $4.2M next year as well. He’s good when healthy, but that’s not often and never for extended periods of time. Outside the box here, but I’d say sell super high on Kuemper when healthy if Hill will be able to shoulder the load. Coyotes still aren’t contenders, so if management can realize this maybe they’ll recoup by selling Hall at the deadline too since that experiment hasn’t worked out.

The Coyotes have the best goalie tandem in the NHL, and Kuemper has been the best goalies for over a year They are 100% definitely contenders.

Raanta should have more value than you think because goalies make all the difference in the world.

No, they are not contenders. They play in the weak Pacific. Your team cannot be contenders relying on a career backup playing out of his mind (for an extended period, I’ll give him that), and expecting to be able to win the majority of your games with only 2-3 goals for. Contenders are powerhouse teams. A borderline bubble playoff team (is bet they’re on the wrong side of #8) cannot be considered a “contender” simply because they have an outside chance of making it to the playoffs. They have pieces to be better in the future. But as far as 2020 is concerned, Chayka needs to be realistic rather than optimistic. 2 blockbuster duds so far. If Kuemper regresses AT ALL coming back from injury, they’re dead in the water. You’re a coyotes blogger. I get the bias. I have my loyalties as well. But as a general hockey fan and armchair GM, I’ll confidently tell you that nobody on the outside sees the Coyotes as a contender.

I’ll make you a wager. I bet that Coyotes miss the playoffs. If I’m wrong, I leave the hockeybuzz boards. If I’m right, you submit a Coyotes blog that I write (without edits) the day before playoffs start. How confident are you, Tanner?
